DIY Elderberry Gummies
DIY Elderberrry Gummies
Supplies:
Elderberry Syrup ( I personally like the Sambucus brand)
Gelatin (below are two clean beef gelatin brands I would use)
Hot Water
Silicone Gummy Bear Molds
Any other vitamins you want to add (I added liquid Vitamin D3)
Sweetener (optional) of your choice - Honey, Liquid Stevia, Liquid Agave, etc ( I didn’t use sweetener in this recipe)
Glass Jar (for storing your gummies in the fridge)
Labels for Jar (optional)
Ingredients:
1 Cup Elderberry syrup
1/4 Cup Gelatin
1/2 Cup of Water
25-30 drops of liquid Vitamin D3 (this is my personal addition which is optional)
Directions:
Grab a bowl to mix all the ingredients.
Heat up 1/2 Cup of water in a saucepan on the stovetop. Make sure it’s hot but not boiling.
Pour 1 cup of Elderberry syrup in a bowl.
Slowly start sprinkling in the 1/4 cup of gelatin into the bowl on top of the Elderberry Syrup.
While you sprinkle the gelatin, start to stir very gently the syrup and gelatin together with a fork.
You’ll mix the syrup and gelatin just enough to get the powder mixed in. Don’t overmix.
Let the mixture sit for a bit. It needs to gel.
Pour the 1/2 cup of hot water into the Elderberry/gelatin mixture in the bowl.
Whisk the mixture together until the gelatin has dissolved (if you want to add sweetener mix it in now).
Take the dropper that came with silicone molds and drop the mixture into the gummy bear molds carefully.
Drop the mixture into the molds (I bought gummy bear molds but there are tons of fun mold shapes online).
After you’re done putting the mixture into the molds, place them in the fridge to firm (TIP: Put the molds on a cookie sheet to help make sure they don’t spill while they gel in the fridge. This will make it easier to put in the fridge and take it out).
Once the gummies are firm, take them out of the fridge. Pop the gummies out of the molds.
Put the gummies into a jar or airtight container. Store in the fridge (they can last for 2 weeks in the fridge but personally I eat them up before that).
I take 2-3 gummies daily (depends on the size of the mold you choose).
ENJOY!!!
